Recently, we have been asked by our clients to provide cover for their personal effects when they visit their holiday homes.  Whilst cover is provided for these items within the holiday  home,  no cover is provided when the items are taken outside the holiday residence.

Overseas Property Insurance  is not intended to replace your Travel insurance, as this covers you against loss of personal effects whilst on holiday.  Not only does Travel insurance also provide valuable protection for your personal effects (jewelery, ipods, mobile phones, cameras etc), it also includes cancellation,  medical, dental, repatriation, luggage, curtailment cover – to name a few. 

If you decide to travel without Travel Insurance (which is not recommended) another alternative to protect your personal effects whilst you are abroad would be to extend your UK  contents cover  to include all risks outside the home.
